
A cultural festival commemorating victims of the Sewol ferry disaster will be held at Incheon Aettul Plaza starting 2 p.m. on April 11, marking the 12th anniversary of the tragedy. The event serves as an occasion to remember the disaster and share a collective commitment to building a safer society.
Organized by the Sewol Ferry Disaster 12th Anniversary Incheon Committee, the Sewol Ferry Civilian Victims Memorial Hall, and the Sewol Ferry Civilian Bereaved Families Association, the festival is themed "The Twelfth Spring, Longing for Tomorrow" and will feature performances, memorial ceremonies, and hands-on programs for citizens.
Side events and experience programs will begin at 3 p.m., followed by the main memorial cultural festival at 4 p.m. Singer Son Byung-hwi will perform, along with the 50-member Incheon Citizens' Choir and the Horae Choir. Citizen participation programs including "12th Anniversary Memorial Writing" and "Sewol Ferry Three-Line Poetry" will also be offered.
