Daejeon Metropolitan City is significantly expanding its "Kkumssi Reusable Cup" program at Hanwha Life Eagles Park, home stadium of the Hanwha Eagles, to establish an eco-friendly spectator culture free of single-use products.
Starting with the home game on April 10, the city will supply "Kkumssi Reusable Cups" to food and beverage vendors inside the stadium through the end of the season. This year, the city plans to deploy approximately 460,000 reusable cups, the largest amount ever, a significant increase from the 350,000 cups provided last year.
The reusable cups, featuring "Kkumdori," Daejeon's mascot, and "Suri," the Hanwha Eagles' mascot, have drawn enthusiastic response by encouraging voluntary participation from citizens. Last year's return rate reached 96.3%, demonstrating mature civic awareness. The city plans to enhance its operational system by improving collection bin placement and adding dedicated staff.
