Korean Register (KR), a non-profit classification society, is launching its first public recruitment drive of the year, seeking 47 full-time employees across 14 fields. "We plan to secure talent who will lead the digital and eco-friendly transformation of the maritime industry and strengthen our global technological competitiveness," a KR official said.
The largest share of openings is in the inspection technology division, which will hire 29 people: hull inspection (14), machinery inspection (14), and maritime safety management specialist (one).
The technology development division will recruit 16 people across multiple specialties: AI convergence technology research and AI service development (three), shipbuilding technology software development (one), eco-friendly vessel research and development (one), structural analysis (one), hull drawing review (two), basic calculation (one), automation systems and ship cybersecurity (three), machinery classification rule development (one), MWS rule development (one), and greenhouse gas project planning (two). Two administrative positions will also be filled.
Notably, this recruitment cycle includes entry-level positions in AI convergence technology and service development to bolster future maritime service capabilities. Other fields will primarily recruit experienced professionals with relevant expertise.
KR is adopting a fully blind recruitment process to ensure fairness and transparency. Applicants must not include any information that could reveal personal details such as age, gender, alma mater, or hometown. Violations may result in disadvantages during the selection process.
The selection process consists of document screening, a written examination covering aptitude assessment and NCS basic vocational competency evaluation, and interviews covering practical skills and English proficiency. Applications will be accepted online only through the KR recruitment website from May 9 through 4 p.m. on May 23. Final successful candidates will be appointed on July 6 after completing physical examinations and background checks.
Detailed qualification requirements and salary levels for each recruitment field are available on the KR recruitment website.
KR was established in 1960 as a non-profit organization dedicated to maritime safety and marine environmental protection. Since joining the International Association of Classification Societies (IACS) as a full member in 1988, the organization has grown to approximately 1,000 employees working across its Busan headquarters and some 70 offices worldwide, including in London, New York, Tokyo, Singapore, and Shanghai. Its key service areas include classification and statutory surveys, decarbonization, digital solutions, and certification and naval vessel services.
