Kim In-ho, preliminary candidate of the Democratic Party of Korea for Dongdaemun District Mayor, held the opening ceremony of his campaign office on the afternoon of the 7th and began his full-scale election campaign. The ceremony was attended by hundreds of people, including senior party figures such as Representatives Jeon Hyun-hee and Park Min-kyu, former Representative Min Byung-doo, local candidates, and supporters.
"Dongdaemun is a key growth axis in Seoul's northeastern region, and the district mayor position is not a place to practice administration," Kim said at the event. "I will deliver results with meticulous budget planning and proven experience."
He presented major pledges including undergrounding the elevated railway at Cheongnyangni Station and creating a forest park, improving transportation by fully expanding Suin-Bundang Line services to Cheongnyangni, and shortening the approval period for redevelopment and reconstruction projects. In the welfare sector, he promised to install public bathhouses for seniors in each administrative district, and to establish public postpartum care centers and 24-hour care centers.
Representative Jeon Hyun-hee, who attended the ceremony, described Kim as "a person with proven administrative experience in handling large-scale Seoul city budgets." Former Representative Min Byung-doo said Kim is "the right person to implement President Lee Jae-myung's pragmatic administration on the ground."
Kim previously served as Speaker of the Seoul Metropolitan Council and Chairman of the National Association of Metropolitan and Provincial Council Speakers. In this local election, he is seeking to secure votes by emphasizing his credentials as "an experienced administrator."
