A notice regarding the "passenger vehicle 5-day rotation system" was posted at a public parking lot in Seoul on Monday, one day before the rationing scheme takes effect at publicly operated parking lots run by local governments and other public institutions.
The rotation system, which restricts vehicle access based on the last digit of license plates on designated days of the week, applies to all passenger vehicles including compact cars and hybrid vehicles. Exceptions are granted for vehicles belonging to national veterans of merit and persons with disabilities (including those riding as passengers), vehicles carrying pregnant women or preschool-age children, electric and hydrogen-powered vehicles, and special-purpose vehicles such as medical and firefighting units.
