South Korea's Public Procurement Service (PPS) said Wednesday it held the "2026 FED Industry Day with Public Procurement Service," a joint briefing on U.S. Forces Korea (USFK) procurement, with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Far East District (USACE FED) at the Courtyard by Marriott hotel in Suwon.
USACE, part of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, oversees construction and facility management at U.S. military bases worldwide. In South Korea, it handles large-scale maintenance and infrastructure improvements including base infrastructure development and power grid redesign for USFK installations.
PPS has co-hosted the USFK procurement briefing with USFK for four consecutive years since 2023. Around 70 pre-registered procurement firms attended this year's event, reflecting strong interest from the industry.
USFK officials from various divisions outlined the regulations and requirements for participating in the USFK procurement market and presented upcoming major procurement projects. PPS and USFK jointly set up consultation booths offering one-on-one in-depth sessions on strategies for entering key procurement markets including the USFK market, as well as how to participate in PPS support programs.
"The USFK procurement market is a large market where Korean companies can readily participate under the local procurement principle," said Kim Hye-kyung, Director of International Cooperation at PPS. "Through this briefing, we will continue to support more procurement firms in entering the USFK procurement market and, further, the U.S. mainland procurement market."
