Youngsan University has begun building a "coexistence-oriented education model" that combines student self-governance with multicultural education support.
According to the university on the 6th, the College of Future Convergence recently held the "9th Student Council Inauguration and Freshman Welcome Ceremony" along with a "Multicultural Scholarship Certificate Award Ceremony" at the Sungsim Auditorium on the Haeundae Campus. Faculty members including Dean Kim Young-mi and enrolled students attended the event, sharing the significance of the student council launch and scholarship support.
At the inauguration ceremony, the 9th student council was officially launched under newly appointed president Hwang Tae-gyeom. The university said it expects the event to serve as an opportunity to strengthen students' sense of belonging through student-led participation and cooperation and to establish an autonomous campus culture.
The scholarship certificate ceremony was organized in partnership with the Korea-America Mission Welfare Foundation. The scholarship program, targeting students from multicultural families and foreign students, was launched as part of the "Lifelong Learning System for Underprivileged Groups" initiative under the Busan RISE project. A total of 10 million won in scholarships will be distributed in phases through 2029.
In particular, foreign and multicultural students enrolled in the College of Future Convergence were selected as scholarship recipients, enabling practical academic support. The university plans to strengthen its community-linked education support system through this initiative while simultaneously fostering global talent and encouraging settlement in the local community.
"We will continue to promote student self-governance and provide stable learning support for multicultural students," Dean Kim Young-mi said. "We will expand communication among university members and build a lifelong education model that coexists with the local community."
