The Ministry of Employment and Labor and police have launched a compulsory investigation into the wind farm fire in Yeongdeok, North Gyeongsang Province, that killed three workers.
The Pohang branch of the labor ministry and the North Gyeongsang Provincial Police Agency conducted raids on the power plant and related facilities on Tuesday, according to the ministry.
Approximately 40 police officers and labor inspectors deployed for the search and seizure plan to closely examine whether the plant had implemented safety measures, including fire prevention and evacuation protocols.
The power plant is suspected of violating the Occupational Safety and Health Act and the Serious Accidents Punishment Act. The Serious Accidents Punishment Act is a law that holds business executives criminally liable by examining the safety and health management systems of workplaces where serious accidents have occurred.
