Korea Railroad Corporation (Korail) said Sunday it has adopted the government's unified authentication system, known as "Any-ID," on its website and mobile app "Korail Talk" to improve ticket booking convenience for railway passengers.
Any-ID is an integrated authentication system operated by the Ministry of the Interior and Safety to standardize the different authentication methods used across public websites.
Railway members can now use the government unified authentication to easily retrieve their account information. When members forget their membership number or password, they can verify their identity through private simple authentication services such as Naver and Kakao, replacing the previous text message verification method.
The system can also be used for non-member ticket bookings. Previously, non-members had to manually enter their name, contact information and password when purchasing tickets, but they can now complete bookings easily with a single authentication step. The change is expected to reduce the inconvenience of being unable to access tickets when personal information was entered incorrectly.
"The adoption of government unified authentication is part of public service innovation linked to government policy," said Lee Min-sung, head of Korail's customer marketing division. "We will continue to expand digital transformation so that the public can use railways more conveniently."
