Incheon Transit Corporation announced on the 6th that it conducted a CEO on-site safety inspection at the construction site for new Exit 1 and 2 installations at Gajeong Station in Seo-gu, Incheon.
The corporation has been carrying out a two-week "executive-led high-risk contract work site inspection" program since December 27. It is reviewing safety management conditions at six major work sites including Imhak Station and Jakjeon Station. The Gajeong Station inspection is part of this initiative.
CEO Choi Jeong-gyu personally checked fire extinguisher placement and flammable material management during welding and cutting operations at the site. He then reviewed compliance with pre-work safety meetings (TBM) and examined pedestrian safety corridor arrangements and emergency response systems, taking into account the unique characteristics of construction within an active station.
The corporation plans to visit the Dongchun substation power equipment upgrade project site on the 16th. The project has a budget of 8.6 billion won and broke ground in November last year, with completion targeted for December this year.
"A small lapse at a contract work site can lead to a major accident," CEO Choi said. "We will continue to pursue field-centered safety management."
