Dong-gu District in Daejeon announced on the 6th that it has appointed popular rising singer Hong Seong-yun, a native of the district, as its promotional ambassador.
Hong Seong-yun is a rising singer gaining public attention after placing third (美, Beauty) on TV Chosun's popular audition show Miss Trot 4. She is recognized for her outstanding vocal ability rooted in Korean traditional music (gugak) and her stage presence.
Last year, she won the grand prize at the 3rd Uri-mal Creative Song Festival hosted by Gyeongin Broadcasting, and has steadily achieved results in various gugak competitions, solidifying her standing as both a traditional musician and a singer.
Hong Seong-yun will serve as Dong-gu's promotional ambassador for the next two years, participating in various festivals, events, and promotional content production to help raise awareness of the district's city brand and regional image.
"I am deeply honored to be appointed as a promotional ambassador for Dong-gu in Daejeon, my hometown," Hong Seong-yun said. "As a traditional musician and singer, I will strive to deliver inspiration to many people while also doing my part to promote the charm of Dong-gu far and wide."
Dong-gu District Mayor Park Hee-jo said, "It is truly meaningful and we are grateful that Hong Seong-yun, who was born and raised in Dong-gu, is making her mark on the national stage and putting her hometown's name on the map. We look forward to her continued participation in various activities to elevate the stature of Dong-gu."
Dong-gu's current promotional ambassadors include dog training expert Lee Woong-jong, baseball figure Han Dae-hwa, and actor Kim Seung-su, all actively engaged in their respective fields. With Hong Seong-yun's appointment, the district's promotional capacity in culture and the arts is expected to be further strengthened.
