Activists from the Resource Recirculation Society Alliance chanted slogans at Gwanghwamun Square in Jongno-gu, Seoul, on Sunday ahead of a national petition campaign calling for an end to political party promotional and election banners.
"With oil supply destabilized by the aftermath of the Middle East conflict, we must stop banner politics that waste unnecessary plastic in the June 3 nationwide local elections," the group said, demanding all political parties and candidates commit to "banner-free elections."
