Seodaemun District in Seoul is opening the Baengnyeonsan Forest Healing Center, a facility offering forest therapy services, and launching pilot operations starting Monday.
The indoor space, spanning approximately 297 square meters on the first floor of the remodeled Korea Center building in Hongeun-dong, houses a program room, a health measurement room and a lounge area. The outdoor space, utilizing Baengnyeonsan Mountain's natural environment, features a barefoot trail, a pine forest and forest bathing facilities.
During the pilot period through May 25, the center will run a forest healing program Tuesday through Saturday, once each in the morning and afternoon. Sessions include health measurements, thermal therapy and physical relaxation, forest walks, meditation and sensory experiences, and tea ceremonies.
From 4 p.m. to 6 p.m., the facility will be open to residents for health measurements and rest.
The center will also offer customized programs for users on themes such as emotional stability, physical vitality enhancement and immune system strengthening.
The district plans to refine its programs and facilities based on the pilot results before launching regular operations on June 9.
"We expect this center to help residents heal weary minds and improve their health in everyday life," Seodaemun District Mayor Lee Sung-heon said.
