Four teenagers have been arrested by police after stealing a car from a parking lot and driving it without a license.
The Osan Police Station in Gyeonggi Province said Monday it is investigating four teenagers, including a boy identified only as "A," on charges of special theft and violations of the Road Traffic Act for stealing a vehicle and driving without a license.
The group is suspected of stealing a Renault sedan from an apartment parking lot in Hwaseong, Gyeonggi Province, at around 1 a.m. that day. "A," who led the crime, drove approximately 10 kilometers without a license to a lodging facility in Osan with three companions in the vehicle, police said.
The group reportedly targeted the vehicle because its doors were unlocked and the key was left inside.
Their crime was uncovered when a staff member at the lodging facility called the vehicle owner's contact number, which was displayed on the car, to address a parking issue. Police responded to the owner's report and arrested the group at around 4:30 a.m.
Police said they are investigating the exact circumstances of the incident.
