
A fire broke out at a motel in Incheon, injuring 51 guests. Some escaped through windows by jumping onto air mattresses deployed below.
According to fire authorities, the blaze started in a fifth-floor room of a seven-story motel inOngnyeon-dong, Yeonsu-gu, at approximately 9:41 a.m. on Sunday. Flames and smoke were billowing from the building's exterior when firefighters arrived.
An estimated 50 guests were staying at the motel, which has 46 rooms. Some guests attempted to escape through windows after the fire broke out.
Of the 51 people injured, 26 were transported to hospitals. Among them, one was classified as critical, three as emergency cases, and the remaining 22 as non-emergency. The 25 who remained at the scene received treatment for minor smoke inhalation.
Fire authorities deployed 60 personnel and 31 pieces of equipment, extinguishing the blaze in 44 minutes. Investigators are looking into the possibility that the fire was caused by an e-cigarette charging in a guest room.
