A man in his 50s who posted a comment threatening to throw gasoline at a BTS comeback concert near Gwanghwamun has been indicted and remains in custody.
According to reporting by the Seoul Economic Daily on Wednesday, the Seoul Northern District Court indicted the man, identified only as "A," on charges of public intimidation on Dec. 31.
A is accused of posting a threatening comment on a social media post titled "BTS Gwanghwamun Concert Traffic Control Information" on Dec. 19, two days before the concert. The comment stated he would "fill a water bottle with gasoline and throw it," according to investigators.
Police sought an arrest warrant given the severity of the case, and the court issued the warrant on Dec. 21. Police referred his case to prosecutors while in custody on Dec. 25.
During police questioning, A reportedly stated that "it was simply intended to attract attention and he had no actual intention of carrying out the act."
