BUSAN — As Busan's manufacturing sector accelerates its digital transformation, technology that automates repetitive document and administrative tasks using artificial intelligence is emerging as a new competitive advantage. This approach boosts productivity by improving workflow rather than shop-floor processes.
According to the Busan Creative Economy Innovation Center on Monday, Team Reboot, a faculty startup from Pukyong National University, is demonstrating the potential for industrial efficiency through AI solutions focused on automating document work in manufacturing settings.
The company partnered with regional mid-sized firm Sungwoo Hitech through the "Startup Open Innovation Challenge 2025" operated by the center, conducting approximately six months of proof-of-concept testing in actual manufacturing environments.
Team Reboot has been advancing technology that automates workflow by processing unstructured documents such as emails, PDFs, and Excel files generated in trade and manufacturing sectors using AI. The core function combines optical character recognition and large language models to replace data entry and organization tasks that humans previously performed repeatedly.
In this proof-of-concept, the company analyzed document processing and data organization segments that occur repeatedly based on Sungwoo Hitech's actual work environment, implementing AI to automatically classify, extract, and organize this information. The system automatically categorizes various types of request documents, extracts key information, and restructures it according to internal formats, naturally connecting to subsequent tasks.
The significance lies particularly in focusing on increasing processing speed and consistency for document-based work. On-site evaluations indicate that an environment has been established where repetitive tasks are reduced and workers can focus on decision-making and communication.
Technical competitiveness was also confirmed. Team Reboot recorded 98.8% data extraction accuracy in shipping logistics applications, demonstrating commercial viability. Key strengths include a "document AI engine" that stably extracts core data even from complex table and sentence structures, and AI agent-based scalability that understands work context to connect tasks.
The company provides customized document automation services for each enterprise through its proprietary platform. Phased implementation is possible, creating a structure that extends from proof-of-concept to company-wide deployment.
Team Reboot and Sungwoo Hitech plan to expand collaboration, including pursuing follow-up projects based on this proof-of-concept. The policy is to continuously explore AI-based work automation models applicable across manufacturing sites.
"The starting point for digital transformation in manufacturing is innovating document and administrative work on the ground," said Choi Sung-chul, CEO of Team Reboot. "We will support reducing repetitive tasks with AI so that workers can focus on more important decision-making."
