The victim's legal team has expressed concern after YouTuber Gujeyek (real name Lee Jun-hee), whose prison sentence for extorting money from fellow YouTuber Tzuyang (real name Park Jung-won) through blackmail was finalized, indicated he would file a petition for court appeal.
Attorney Kim Tae-yeon, legal representative for Tzuyang, held a press conference at the National Assembly on the 18th with People Power Party lawmaker Kim Jang-gyeom. "Victim Tzuyang's joy after the finalized verdict was short-lived. After hearing news of the court appeal petition, she worried whether she would have to wait for another ruling," Kim said.
The attorney added, "The court appeal petition system has created a situation where the suffering the victim believed had ended is being repeated."
Gujeyek was previously indicted on charges of extorting money from Tzuyang by threatening to expose allegations about her private life. The Supreme Court finalized a three-year prison sentence. Gujeyek recently announced through his legal representative that he would file a petition for court appeal.
Lawmaker Kim stated, "The side effects of the three judiciary-destroying laws pushed through by the Lee Jae-myung regime and the Democratic Party of Korea are already manifesting in reality." He added, "The Democratic Party packaged this as a system expanding citizens' rights, but reality is the exact opposite."
