Gyeonggi Housing and Urban Development Corporation (GH) announced on the 13th that it is moving forward with plans to build a public knowledge industry center aimed at attracting businesses and fostering an innovative industrial ecosystem within Gwanggyo New Town.
The day before, GH signed a public-private partnership agreement with a consortium led by Shindonga E&C, marking the first step toward constructing the "Gwanggyo District Public Knowledge Industry Center."
The center, to be built at 1322-2 Ui-dong, Yeongtong-gu, Suwon, will comprise 14 floors above ground and three basement levels, with a total floor area of approximately 35,000 square meters. The project requires a total investment of approximately 118 billion won. Construction and sales are scheduled to begin in October, with rental units available from August 2028 and completion targeted for April 2029.
The office space will accommodate approximately 130 companies based on units of 30 pyeong (approximately 99 square meters). Of the total units, 70 percent will be sold and 30 percent offered for lease. A startup support facility spanning approximately 3,000 square meters will house shared offices and other startup support functions, along with a "Diagnostic Medical Device Prototype Manufacturing Support Center."
The center aims to support research and development for startups in the bio and medical device sectors that lack manufacturing infrastructure, while building a bio-industry ecosystem linked to the nearby Gwanggyo Techno Valley.
Located within a 10-minute walk from Gwanggyo Central Station on the Shinbundang Line, the center offers access to Gangnam in under 40 minutes. Its proximity to the Dongsuwon Interchange provides excellent connectivity to major transportation networks including the Yeongdong and Yongin-Seoul Expressways.
The building's first floor will connect to Gwanggyo's café street and Yeocheon Stream, while the 14th floor is designed to offer views of Gwanggyo Museum, creating a pleasant work environment.
