Hapcheon County in South Gyeongsang Province announced on the 6th plans to expand renewable energy distribution and enhance energy welfare for vulnerable populations.
Last year, the county installed 126 solar power facilities and 3 solar thermal facilities through a national renewable energy convergence project. Under a residential renewable energy support program, 31 single-family homes received solar power and solar thermal equipment, strengthening household energy independence.
This year, Hapcheon plans to deploy 202 solar, solar thermal, and geothermal facilities, while providing solar equipment to 50 additional households through the residential support program.
In energy welfare, the county installed small LPG storage tanks and supply lines for 35 households in Pyeongchon Village, Myosan-myeon, reducing inconveniences in areas without city gas service. The county also upgraded gas and electrical facilities for 350 households, including basic livelihood security recipients and near-poverty households.
Annually, Hapcheon provides energy vouchers to 1,600 households and coal briquette coupons to 46 households, easing the burden on energy-vulnerable residents.
The county plans to link its energy policies with consumption promotion, job creation, and corporate competitiveness initiatives to drive regional economic recovery and structural improvement.
"Through expanded renewable energy distribution and energy welfare programs, we will create a community where all residents can live stably despite difficult economic conditions," said County Governor Kim Yun-cheol.
