Gyeongbuk Province announced on the 5th that it has opened an Advanced Regenerative Medicine Industry Promotion Office within the Andong Animal Cell Demonstration Support Center.
With the opening of the office, the Gyeongbuk Bio Industry Research Institute will establish a separate organization to systematically promote the development of the advanced regenerative medicine industry and build a related ecosystem.
The province is also pursuing the establishment of a Korean branch of the Wake Forest Institute for Regenerative Medicine, a world-leading regenerative medicine research institution in the United States.
Gyeongbuk Governor Lee Cheol-woo said, "If the advanced regenerative medicine research infrastructure in northern Gyeongbuk is combined with Daegu's clinical and treatment-focused medical system, it will have a positive effect on bio industry development," adding, "We will devote our efforts to strengthening the bio industry foundation."
