Seongnam City announced on January 5 that it will implement the "2026 Seongnam City Green Building Development Support Project" to improve energy efficiency in aging buildings and reduce greenhouse gas emissions.
Eligible properties include buildings that received occupancy permits more than 10 years ago: single-family and multi-family homes, multi-unit and row houses with 19 units or fewer, and residential portions of mixed-use neighborhood facilities with total floor area of 660 square meters or less. Buildings in redevelopment or reconstruction zones and those with code violations are excluded.
The program covers insulation reinforcement, replacement of high-efficiency airtight windows and entrance doors, high-efficiency electrical and lighting system upgrades, rooftop greening installations, and cool roof (heat-reflective rooftop paint) applications. Subsidies cover up to 50% of construction costs, with a maximum of 10 million won.
Applications are accepted through January 31. Building owners must download application forms from the Seongnam City website (Sectoral Information → Housing/Architecture/Real Estate → Architecture → Notices/Announcements) and submit them with required documents in person at the City Hall Architecture Division (East Building, 7th floor).
Projects selected through the Green Building Development Support Review Committee in April must begin construction within three months of notification and be completed by November.
"Seongnam City has supported improvements to residents' living environments through the green building development support project since 2020," a city official said. "We will continue working to enhance energy performance in aging buildings as we advance toward becoming an eco-friendly city."
