Keum Hong-seob, former professor of public administration at Hannam University, was inaugurated as the 8th standing audit committee member of Korea Railroad Corporation (Korail) on March 3.
Keum earned his bachelor's, master's, and doctoral degrees in public administration from Hannam University, where he also served as a professor. He has been actively engaged in civil society and public policy for over 30 years, working to promote social innovation and strengthen public interest.
He has also served as an opinion leader in roles including integrity ombudsman and citizen auditor at major public institutions, contributing to improved transparency in the public sector. He is recognized as a figure combining professional expertise with integrative leadership, having directly led management efficiency improvements as the head of public organizations.
"I will establish a prevention-focused smart audit system for absolute safety using AI technology and expand 'consulting audits' to strengthen financial soundness," Keum said. "I will work to establish an open audit culture based on communication and empathy, moving away from control-centered auditing toward a partnership-style audit that creates organizational value through advice and support."
