Gyeongnam Province will provide island residents up to 200,000 won annually to offset additional delivery charges they face when using courier services.
Island residents have been paying surcharges of up to 10,000 won per package on top of standard delivery fees, depending on their location. To ease this burden, the province will reimburse 3,000 won per delivery for additional charges incurred since January 1 this year, capped at 200,000 won per person annually.
Eligible residents must be registered in areas where surcharges apply and can submit proof of delivery expenses at their local administrative welfare center. The subsidy covers all packages sent or received by island residents. Third-party payments and proxy applications by family members or neighbors are also accepted, accommodating those with limited digital access.
