South Gyeongsang Province will cultivate 100 regional content creators armed with artificial intelligence technology over the next five years.
The provincial government announced on the 3rd that it will launch the "AI Creator 100 Development Project" as a new initiative this year. The creator economy is generating significant economic value and establishing itself as a new growth engine for the content industry. AI technological advances have particularly expanded the diversity of content production.
The province has differentiated its approach by moving beyond simple video production training to offer a comprehensive package that combines advanced AI courses with content production funding, expert mentoring, and broadcast distribution through regional stations.
The project will be administered by the South Gyeongsang Viewer Media Center, which is recruiting 40 provincial residents aspiring to become creators through the 24th.
Selected participants will receive foundational training in AI applications. From this group, 20 top performers will be chosen for advanced training and content production support. Production funding is set at 300,000 won per video, with each creator eligible for up to three videos.
Of the three content pieces, two will cover freely chosen topics related to South Gyeongsang Province, while one will address an assigned theme. This year's designated theme is "Miryang Arirang." The concept aims to reimagine the traditional folk song in the language of the YouTube, Instagram, and TikTok generation. Completed videos will be distributed via social media, and outstanding works selected through year-end evaluation will be broadcast on regional television stations. The 20 creators selected as top performers this year will continue receiving support next year. Through this approach, the province aims to develop 100 creators over five years.
"Nurturing AI creators is a project that goes beyond technical training to expand regional assets into content," said Jung Young-chul, Director of Culture, Sports and Tourism at South Gyeongsang Province.
A project briefing session will be held at the South Gyeongsang Viewer Media Center on the 9th. The briefing will provide guidance on project direction and trainee selection procedures, and organizers plan to actively incorporate feedback from attendees into project operations.
