Paju City in Gyeonggi Province will provide 14,000 won per month to all female adolescents aged 11 to 18 for menstrual product purchases.
According to the city on the 3rd, eligible recipients are female adolescents aged 11 to 18 who have registered their residence, foreign registration, or domestic residence in Paju. The subsidy will be issued as mobile local currency and can only be used for purchasing menstrual products. The monthly support of 14,000 won amounts to a maximum of 168,000 won annually.
In-person applications will be accepted at local administrative welfare centers starting the 4th of this month, while online applications will open at 2 p.m. on the 5th through Gyeonggi Minwon 24. Following eligibility verification, payments will be distributed sequentially from April 20, with the review process taking at least two weeks.
The subsidy can be used at four convenience store chains affiliated with Paju's local currency program—GS25, CU, Emart24, and 7-Eleven—as well as at the menstrual products section on the Baedal Teukgeup delivery app. Users must install and register for the Gyeonggi Local Currency app.
A Paju City official said, "As we aim to provide support to all eligible recipients under this universal program, we hope everyone who qualifies will apply and receive these benefits."
