Park Eun-sik, the 37th Administrator of the Korea Forest Service, held his inauguration ceremony at the Forest Service conference room in the Daejeon Government Complex on the 3rd, stating he will "realize valuable and resilient forests and a sustainable green economy to create 'a nation where citizens find happiness through forests.'"
Administrator Park emphasized, "Forests are a safety net protecting citizens' lives, a new growth engine for the nation, and a key solution to the climate crisis," adding that "forests must now become an engine of innovation and growth."
Park outlined five major forest policy directions: establishing an "intelligent forest disaster response system" based on advanced science and technology; building a "dynamic forest industry ecosystem" to transform forests into high-value resources; creating "resilient carbon-absorbing forests" resistant to climate crisis; strengthening forest welfare and utilizing forests as a solution to regional depopulation; and systematically preparing for the global expansion of "K-Forest" and inter-Korean forestry cooperation.
Administrator Park pledged, "In pursuing forest policies going forward, I will actively listen to diverse opinions from citizens and enhance policy effectiveness based on science and data," and promised to "boldly innovate outdated practices, pursue future-oriented policies, and build 'a Forest Service trusted by citizens' and 'a Republic of Korea made happy through forests.'"
