
The Seoul Metropolitan Office of Education announced on the 4th that it received a donation of 1.07 billion won from Good Neighbors, a global NGO specializing in children's rights.
The donation represents a 57% increase from last year's 680 million won and will support 2,187 students under the Seoul Metropolitan Office of Education's jurisdiction. In addition to existing support programs including weekend meals to prevent hunger, hygiene products for female students, emergency living expenses for families in crisis, and Hope Scholarships, the funding will also cover individual psychological counseling and medical expenses.
Seoul Metropolitan Office of Education Superintendent Jeong Geun-sik said, "We will do our best to ensure that the newly introduced psychological counseling and medical expense support provide practical help to students in welfare blind spots."
