Suncheon Bay National Garden Awakens Senses with Spring Blooms

Suncheon Bay National Garden, where all four seasons come alive, has transformed from white cotton-candy snow into a kaleidoscope of colors.

The heralds of spring awaken all five senses.

Tulips, symbolizing spring in the garden, set this year's record for the earliest bloom nationwide. They paint the entire grounds in brilliant hues across Dongwon Welcome Garden, Space Hub, and the Netherlands Garden.

This year's display features 1 million tulip bulbs of 60 varieties—double last year's scale—marking the first harvest from a newly constructed cultivation facility.

The garden offers special "spring gifts" alongside the tulips.

White and purple magnolias have revealed their elegant forms at Sunset Garden and Tree Encyclopedia Garden. Following them, 2.5 million spring flowers including daffodils, anemones, cherry blossoms, and rapeseed will bloom in relay throughout March.

Enjoying spring in the garden goes beyond sightseeing and photo opportunities. The garden hosts "Productive Rest, Garden Gazing" events where visitors engage their hands and minds rather than simply zoning out. Programs include "Knitting Gazing" for fingertip immersion and "Writing Gazing" for collecting sentences, offering personalized relaxation experiences.

Fine dining adds the finishing touch.

Special culinary events unfold in the March garden as cherry blossoms scatter and tulips reach full bloom. Picnics with loved ones and a pretty lunchbox contest take place under warm sunshine.

Dining experiences at BBQ Village, French Garden, and Traditional Jar Garden enrich the spring visit. Visitors can complete an authentic spring journey—eating, resting, and laughing while delighting both eyes and palate.

The garden's spring crosses spatial boundaries. Garden Dream boat connects the garden to Dongcheon Stream, while Sky Cube links the garden to Suncheon Bay. The observation wheel offering fresh garden views draws large crowds annually. The cherry blossom path along Dongcheon Stream viewed from Garden Dream boat never fails to captivate visitors.

Behind the splendor stand the true heralds of spring who quietly prepared for the season.

About 100 gardeners.

They planted bulbs in subzero winter temperatures and watered plants at dawn. Their efforts nurturing the garden from winter through spring laid the foundation for this spring display.

Suncheon Bay National Garden has evolved beyond a tourist destination into the heart and driving force of the city's economy. Visitors invigorate the local economy through accommodations, dining, and shopping.
