A woman in her 30s who crashed a black Porsche SUV off Banpo Bridge into the Han River embankment faces possible detention. Investigators found multiple empty propofol bottles and disposable syringes in her vehicle.
Seoul Western District Court began a pretrial detention hearing at 10:30 a.m. on Monday for the suspect, identified only as "A," who faces charges of violating the Narcotics Control Act and drug-impaired driving under the Road Traffic Act. The suspect arrived at court in a wheelchair with her face covered by clothing and refused to answer reporters' questions.
A is accused of crashing her black Porsche into the Banpo Bridge guardrail at approximately 8:44 p.m. on January 25, causing the vehicle to plunge onto the riverbank below. The collision also injured a man in his 40s, identified as "B," who was driving a Mercedes-Benz that was struck by the Porsche. Both were transported to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
Investigators recovered multiple empty propofol containers and disposable syringes from A's vehicle. A reportedly admitted to driving under the influence of drugs during questioning by Yongsan Police Station.
Yongsan Police Station filed for an arrest warrant with the Seoul Western District Prosecutors' Office on January 26.
