Police have launched an investigation into rapper MC Mong (Shin Dong-hyun, 47) over allegations of obtaining sleeping pills through proxy prescriptions.
According to police on the 27th, the Seoul Gangnam Police Station received the case on the 25th and began investigating MC Mong for alleged violations of the Narcotics Control Act and Medical Service Act.
Earlier, former Korean Medical Association President Lim Hyun-taek filed a complaint with prosecutors through the government petition system last month. He alleged that MC Mong obtained proxy prescriptions for zolpidem, a psychotropic drug, under his former manager's name.
The Daejeon Seobu Police Station initially received the case and questioned former President Lim as the complainant. The case was subsequently transferred to the Gangnam Police Station, which has jurisdiction over MC Mong's residence.
