
The Imdang Scholarship and Culture Foundation has donated funds to Seoul National University to foster global talent.
Seoul National University announced on the 27th that the Imdang Scholarship and Culture Foundation contributed 200 million won ($145,000) to establish the "Imdang Singapore Scholarship Fund." The university plans to use the fund to strengthen students' international capabilities and support their growth as global citizens with leadership and public-mindedness.
"Singapore is a country with high educational competitiveness, and its academic standards and educational environment align well with Seoul National University," said Chung Ji-yi, chairperson of the Imdang Scholarship and Culture Foundation. "When talented individuals who have grown up in multicultural and multilingual environments interact with students at SNU, we believe there will be benefits not only in academic synergy but also in expanding international networks."
The Imdang Scholarship and Culture Foundation was established in 2005 by the late Kim Moon-hee, honorary chairperson of Yongmun Academy and mother of Hyundai Group Chairwoman Hyun Jung-eun. The foundation has continued annual programs supporting academic research grants and scholarships to cultivate outstanding talent.
"This donation will serve as valuable support for our university's internationalization initiatives and further strengthen our global capabilities," said SNU President Yoo Hong-lim. "We will continue to support talented individuals so they can pursue their studies and research in a global environment."
