Gunpo Mayor Ha Eun-ho discovered an elderly woman collapsed and moaning on the street, helping ensure her safe return through prompt emergency reporting and first aid.
According to the Gunpo city government on the 27th, Mayor Ha spotted the elderly woman collapsed on the street while passing through the Sanbon Central Park intersection around 10 a.m. after finishing a meeting on thaw-season accident prevention.
Mayor Ha immediately got out of the car with his companions, called 119, and laid the woman in a comfortable position to monitor her condition and keep her conscious. The responding 119 rescue team administered emergency treatment to maintain her consciousness, and her condition reportedly improved enough for her to return home by ambulance.
This is not Mayor Ha's first encounter with disaster rescue situations.
As a high school student, he rescued people from a bus filling with water in front of Daelim University during a major flood in the Anyang area. In 2022, he also discovered an elderly person collapsed near a crosswalk at the Pit-in intersection at Sanbon Station, helping ensure their safe return through quick reporting and rescue efforts, just as he did this time.
"I was on my way back after finishing a meeting with staff on thaw-season accident prevention," Mayor Ha said. "As spring approaches, elderly citizens need to take extra caution."
