The Busan Museum of Modern and Contemporary History and the Gyeongsangnam-do Archives announced on the 27th that they have signed a memorandum of understanding for the systematic preservation and joint utilization of modern historical assets in the Busan-Ulsan-Gyeongnam region.
Under the agreement, the two institutions will share records management expertise across administrative boundaries and establish a mutual cooperation model to bridge regional gaps in archival culture.
As their first collaborative project, the institutions will begin joint digitization of approximately 4,300 photographs from the tenure of former administrator Yoon Hee-yun, which serve as valuable historical materials documenting the administrative history of the Busan-Ulsan-Gyeongnam region from the 1970s to 1990s. The Archives will deploy specialized equipment to convert the original materials held by the Museum into high-resolution digital formats.
Both parties plan to continue discovering historical materials related to everyday life and utilize them in various fields including exhibitions and education.
