Anyang City announced on the 27th that it collected a total of 286 civic requests through its "2026 Dong New Year Greeting Meetings."
The city visited all 31 neighborhood administrative welfare centers from December 15, starting with Anyang 1-dong, through January 10, meeting approximately 3,100 residents and hearing concerns from each district.
A total of 198 people submitted requests through these events. By category, road and transportation issues accounted for the largest share at 40% of all requests, followed by environment (21%), urban housing (15%), and safety administration (9%).
According to the city's analysis, residents particularly expressed high expectations for improved transportation convenience, including securing parking spaces, adding buses and changing routes, and improving pedestrian environments. Citizens also showed strong interest in environmental issues such as creating parks and green spaces, as well as urban renewal projects including redevelopment and reconstruction.
The city plans to swiftly address requests that can be immediately resolved, while matters requiring budget allocation or coordination with related agencies will undergo thorough review for phased implementation.
Mayor Choi Dae-ho and senior officials, including heads of departments and bureaus, accompanied all sessions of the New Year greeting meetings to hear residents' voices directly on site. For feasible matters, they provided immediate responses and solutions on the spot, working to resolve daily inconveniences and enhance public understanding and trust in city administration.
Anyang City has held annual New Year greeting meetings to communicate with residents every year except 2020 and 2021, when COVID-19 was spreading.
Last year's meetings received 306 requests from 207 people, with 135 cases (44%) completed and 78 cases (26%) currently in progress.
"We will continuously monitor the progress of requests received during this year's New Year greeting meetings," the city said. "Matters that can be addressed immediately will be processed swiftly, while issues requiring medium- to long-term review will be pursued in phases through budget and inter-agency consultation procedures."
