Suwon City Hall's cafeteria now offers dishes from the city's domestic and international sister cities.
According to Suwon City on the 26th, the city is operating "Taste the City," a program that features local specialties and signature dishes from its sister and friendship cities on its cafeteria menu. The program promotes international sister cities to city employees while supporting domestic partner cities by purchasing their local products.
Suwon City serves signature dishes from sister cities on the anniversaries of their partnership agreements. On the 16th, the lunch menu featured dishes from Kaohsiung, Taiwan—a sister city since seven years ago—including chicken thigh fried rice, jipaiji (Taiwanese fried chicken), shrimp dim sum, smashed cucumber salad, and nougat crackers.
The city plans to feature representative dishes from Townsville, Australia (April), Siem Reap Province, Cambodia (July), Bandung, Indonesia (August), Hangzhou, China (October), Jinan, China (October), and Asahikawa, Japan (October).
Additionally, menus featuring local specialties from domestic friendship cities will be served: Pohang (March), Jeju (April), Nonsan (May), Bonghwa County (June), Jeonju (July), Geoje (October), and Taean County (November).
"'Taste the City' is a program where employees can experience diverse food cultures from cities at home and abroad during lunch," a Suwon City official said. "It will be a valuable opportunity to strengthen friendships with our sister and friendship cities."
