Bitter cold will sweep across Korea on Friday, with the wind chill temperature in Seoul dropping to around minus 20 degrees Celsius during morning commute hours.
The Korea Meteorological Administration forecast morning lows of minus 17 to minus 3 degrees Celsius and afternoon highs of minus 7 to 4 degrees Celsius nationwide. Seoul's morning temperature is expected to reach minus 12 degrees Celsius, with Chuncheon at minus 15 degrees, Suwon at minus 13 degrees, and Daegu at minus 8 degrees, bringing harsh cold to commuters across most regions.
Skies will be mostly clear nationwide, though the Jeolla region will see occasional clouds. Jeju Island will be mostly cloudy.
Snow or rain is expected mainly in the Jeolla region and Jeju Island. Forecast snowfall accumulations are 10-30 centimeters for Ulleungdo and Dokdo, 5-10 centimeters for Jeju Island's mountainous areas, 3-8 centimeters for North Jeolla's west coast, southern inland areas, and South Jeolla's west coast, 2-7 centimeters for Jeju's mid-mountain areas, 1-5 centimeters for South Chungcheong's west coast and Gwangju and western South Jeolla excluding the west coast, and around 1 centimeter for the West Sea Five Islands, eastern South Jeolla, and Jeju's coastal areas. Expected precipitation for the same period is 10-30 millimeters for Ulleungdo and Dokdo, 5-20 millimeters for Jeju Island, around 5 millimeters for North Jeolla's west coast, southern inland areas, and South Jeolla's west coast, and less than 5 millimeters for the West Sea Five Islands, South Chungcheong's west coast, Gwangju, and South Jeolla.
Fine dust levels are expected to remain "good" across most of the country.
Wave heights are forecast at 1.0-3.5 meters in the East Sea and 0.5-3.0 meters in the West Sea and South Sea.
