All applicants with school bullying records who applied to Jeonbuk National University's 2026 early admissions have been rejected.
According to the university on the 26th, 18 applicants were found to have school violence records (levels 4-8) — nine in the school record-based and practical skill admissions tracks, and nine in the comprehensive school record evaluation track.
All of them failed to gain admission due to point deductions for their bullying history.
Last year, Jeonbuk National University applied school violence measures to its comprehensive evaluation track for early admissions and regular admissions. This year, following government directives, the school record-based track was also included, effectively expanding the policy to all admission categories.
Under the specific point deduction criteria, levels 1-3 result in a 5-point deduction, levels 4-5 in 10 points, levels 6-7 in 15 points, and levels 8-9 in 50 points. For the comprehensive evaluation track, qualitative assessment is used instead of quantitative deductions to factor in bullying history.
"School violence is an act that cannot be tolerated for any reason, and we are strictly reflecting this in university admissions," said Ahn Jeong-yong, head of admissions at Jeonbuk National University. "We will continue to thoroughly verify and manage school violence records to lead the establishment of a fair and responsible admissions culture."
Last year, five students with school bullying records who applied to the university were rejected — four in early admissions and one in regular admissions.
