Bae Kyung-hoon, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Science and ICT, visited the Korea Cancer Center Hospital in Nowon-gu, Seoul, on Tuesday to comfort young cancer patients undergoing treatment.
According to the Ministry of Science and ICT, Deputy PM Bae arrived dressed as Santa Claus, accompanied by "Rodolph," a quadruped walking robot from the Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology (KAIST) costumed as Rudolph the reindeer, and an unmanned vehicle from the Korea Institute of Machinery and Materials decorated as a sleigh carrying gifts.
He appeared alongside a rehabilitation robot from Angel Robotics and presented Galaxy Tab devices to pediatric cancer patients while delivering messages of hope to the patients and their guardians. The deputy prime minister also distributed gifts to nine children at the hospital's on-site daycare center to create lasting memories.
"I hope this was a warm moment where patients and families, exhausted from treatment and caregiving, could smile even for a little while," Bae said.
