YouTuber Ipjjalbeun Haetnim (real name Kim Mi-kyung), who was revealed to have received treatment from a so-called "injection aunt" surnamed Lee suspected of illegal medical practice, has been reported to police.
According to News1 on Monday, the Seoul Mapo Police Station officially received a complaint regarding Kim and is reviewing the case. The complaint reportedly contains allegations that Kim may have received treatment from an unlicensed medical practitioner, along with potential illegalities in the handling of psychotropic medications.
Kim had been embroiled in allegations that she received diet-related medication prescriptions and procedures multiple times from Lee, who is suspected of performing illegal medical acts on broadcaster Park Na-rae. After these facts became known, Kim stated, "If there are problematic aspects, I will acknowledge them and not evade responsibility," announcing she would suspend all activities.
This case is expected to be assigned to the Mapo Police Station's drug crime investigation team.
Meanwhile, a netizen who identified themselves as the complainant disclosed the purpose of the complaint through an online community on Monday.
The netizen claimed, "Through media reports, additional circumstances have emerged that Kim received diet medications that could be classified as psychotropic substances," adding, "Please investigate through inquiry whether home visits for procedures occurred under the Medical Service Act and whether there were violations of the Narcotics Control Act."
The complainant particularly took issue with the fact that Kim acknowledged in her statement released Monday that the "injection aunt" had visited her home. The complainant stated, "This suggests the possibility of home procedures by a person who is not a medical professional," demanding thorough fact-finding.
In response, Kim explained through her YouTube channel community, "I first met her at a hospital in Gangnam through an acquaintance's introduction, and at the time there was no reason to doubt she was a doctor." She continued, "Due to my busy schedule, she did come to my home, but I never visited the other person's home."
Kim added, "I deeply apologize for causing discomfort and concern to fans and those involved," stating, "I will step down from all programs I am currently appearing on and will completely suspend all scheduled activities."
