Gachon Nuri, a standard workplace for people with disabilities operated by Gachon University Gil Medical Center, celebrated its 11th anniversary this year. Launched in 2014 with hospital record scanning services, the organization has since expanded into video content production and handicraft sales.
Gachon Nuri held its 11th anniversary ceremony at its Incheon office on Thursday, with about 70 attendees including officials from the Korea Employment Agency for Persons with Disabilities' Incheon branch and representatives of standard workplaces in the Incheon region.
"Our employees have worked hard together over the past year to add to our dreams," CEO Yang Seung-hyun said in his commemorative speech. "Let's work even harder to repay the love and expectations people have for Gachon Nuri."
The achievements over the past 11 years are clear. Currently, 40 employees with severe disabilities work in stable positions. They handle tasks such as guiding hospital visitors and posting promotional materials, serving as an integral part of hospital operations.
This year, Gachon Nuri launched a pilot project providing eco-friendly knitted gifts to babies discharged from the neonatal intensive care unit, earning recognition as the top organization in the Korea Employment Agency for Persons with Disabilities' "Severe Disability Employment Model Development and Expansion Project."
At the ceremony, employee Shin Da-yeon, who contributed to the knitting project, received the Gachon Gil Foundation Chairman Lee Gil-ya Award. Employees Choi Ye-eun, Kang Ha-kyung, and Kim Hyun-ji were also recognized for their achievements in crafts and video production.
Gachon Nuri was established in 2014 by Gachon University Gil Medical Center as a standard workplace for people with disabilities, following the vision of Gachon Gil Foundation Chairman Lee Gil-ya to provide quality employment opportunities for young people with disabilities to become healthy members of society.
