This is the result of tracking changes in protein throughout life for 13 major organs and blood, including cardiovascular, digestive, endocrine, immune, respiratory, skin, and musculoskeletal systems. The researchers revealed that protein changes were most intense among people between the ages of 45 and 55. It means that aging draws a steep curve rather than a straight line.
Among the 13 organs, the aorta had the greatest protein change. There is an interpretation that vascular aging may be the starting point of systemic aging that triggers the decline of other organs. The pancreas also showed major changes. When the pancreas, which produces digestive enzymes and hormones and controls metabolism and blood sugar, shakes, a domino effect can occur on the whole body system, including body weight, blood sugar, and fat metabolism. The researchers suggested that blood vessels may be channels for transporting substances that promote aging throughout the body.
A medical expert explained, “The aorta is the main pipe that sends blood throughout the body,” and “if this area collapses first, a chain of cracks occurs in the cardiovascular system, metabolic system, and immune system.” He said, “The fact that the pancreas changes are significant is also significant. Aging is not about outward aging; it is a reorganization of the entire metabolic system,” he added. In clinical settings, it is a common observation among experts that the vascular, respiratory, and immune functions of patients around the age of 50 actually weaken at the same time.
Standards in the anti-aging market are also expected to change; the strategy is likely to shift from post-50s management to early intervention in the early 40s.
