Seoul Mayor Oh Se-hoon, who was unrestrained on suspicion of paying public opinion polls at the time of the referendum, was tried by a judge who was in charge of the first trial for a private contractor in Daejang-dong.
According to the legal community on the 2nd, the Seoul Central District Court assigned the case of Mayor Oh's violation of the Political Funds Act to Criminal Settlement Section 22 (Judge Cho Hyung-woo).
Criminal Settlement Section 22 is a court dedicated to election crime and corruption cases. Recently, Yoo Dong-gyu, the former general manager of Seongnam Urban Development Corporation and Kim Man-bae, a major shareholder of Hwacheon Daeyu, overheard the first instance of the Daejang-dong private sector incident. He is also in charge of alleged cases such as the misconduct of former Marine Corps 1st Division General Lim Seong-geun, which is one of the indictment of former Marine Corps Special Prosecutor (Special Prosecutor Lee Myung-hyeon).
The day before, Special Prosecutor Kim Kun-hee (Special Prosecutor Min Jung-ki) unrestrained Mayor Oh, Kang Cheol-won, the former mayor of the Ministry of Government of Seoul, and the sponsor, Kim Mo, for violating the Political Funds Act.
Mayor Oh is accused of asking political broker Myung Tae-kyun to conduct a public opinion survey ahead of the Seoul mayoral election on April 7, 2021, and instructing former Vice Mayor Kang, who was the secretary at the time, to conduct a public opinion survey in consultation with Mr. Myung. The special prosecutor believes that Mayor Oh asked the sponsor Kim to bear the costs of the poll.
