President Lee Jae-myung, who is on a state visit to Mongolia, will present a traditional Korean bow set to Mongolian President Ukhnaagiin Khurelsukh on the 10th.
Kang Yu-jung, senior presidential spokesperson, introduced the gifts prepared by President Lee ahead of a state dinner hosted by President Khurelsukh at a briefing that day. The traditional bow set was crafted using traditional techniques by combining materials such as water buffalo horn and bamboo, a gift chosen in consideration of the fact that archery is a traditional culture shared by both countries. Archery is also one of the three main events of the Naadam Festival, Mongolia's largest festival, where President Lee will attend as a guest of honor the following day.
President Lee also prepared a smartwatch equipped with the latest features as a gift for President Khurelsukh, who enjoys exercise. For Bolortsetseg Lobsandorj, the wife of President Khurelsukh, he prepared a mother-of-pearl box decorated on its front with butterfly and vine patterns. The presidential office explained that the butterfly symbolizes happiness and prosperity, while the vine signifies longevity due to its endlessly spreading nature. The color was chosen as jade green, evoking Mongolia's vast grasslands and rich nature.
About 40 Korean business leaders will attend the state dinner that day. Attendees include LS Chairman Koo Cha-eun, SK Vice Chairman Lee Hyung-hee, Korea Trade-Investment Promotion Agency (KOTRA) President Kang Kyung-sung, Korea International Trade Association Vice Chairman Lee In-ho, Korea Federation of SMEs Vice Chairman Oh Ki-woong, Busan Chamber of Commerce and Industry Chairman Yang Jae-saeng, Export-Import Bank of Korea President Hwang Ki-yeon, Korea Venture Business Association Chairman Song Byung-jun, Korea Racing Authority Chairman Woo Hee-jong, and Korea Institute of Geoscience and Mineral Resources President Kwon Yi-kyun.
The dinner menu included smoked salmon and ox tongue appetizers, tomato and bell pepper cream soup, grilled halibut fillet, braised beef cheek, and Marquise chocolate cake.
