President Lee Jae-myung will chair a public debate on real estate policy overall, covering supply, finance, and taxation, on the 23rd. Ahead of that, the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport will hold a separate debate on the 14th, the Financial Services Commission on the 15th, and the Ministry of Economy and Finance on the 16th, each holding public debates on supply, finance, and taxation topics tailored to their respective ministry's characteristics.
Kim Yong-beom, director of the Presidential Office's policy planning, previewed these public debates at a Presidential Office briefing on the 10th, saying, "At the debates, we plan to discuss together the various opinions presented so far and seek policy direction." Kim said, "We will also broadly hear the opinions of citizens who cannot attend the debates through channels such as online opinion-gathering windows."
Kim said, "The government does not think real estate policy can be completed through the government's judgment alone," adding, "Rather than the government unilaterally presenting answers, a process in which the public and experts craft solutions together is needed." He said, "Housing is the issue most directly connected to citizens' lives, and the burden and anxiety over home prices, jeonse and monthly rent, loans, and buying one's own home are difficulties many citizens feel in their daily lives." He added, "The government also takes this market situation seriously and is reviewing policies with citizens' housing stability as the top priority."
