Prime Minister Han Seong-sook said on the 9th that "artificial intelligence is no longer just a matter of technology or industry; it is demanding changes in how we work and how we live. The government intends to change in line with this shift," adding, "The government plans to expand 'On AI,' an AI-based internal administrative work system, to 47 central administrative agencies by the end of the year, putting the public sector's AI transition into full swing."
Han made the remarks in her opening statement at the 11th State Policy Coordination Meeting held at the Government Complex Seoul, saying, "The AI democratic government we aspire to is a capable and responsive government fit for the AI era, one in which the people are the masters and which is built together with the people." She also stressed, "We will continue to open up data, centered on 100 types of core public data that are in high demand and highly usable, so that anyone can easily make use of them."
The government plans to open administrative information in an AI-friendly manner to expand opportunities for public participation in state affairs and to reduce unnecessary labor in the civil service. It also plans to reflect a wide range of public opinions in policy through AI-based communication channels. The government intends to finalize and announce specific implementation tasks in the near future.
Regarding the monsoon season, Han said, "Heavy rain continues across the country," adding, "Fortunately, I have been briefed that no casualties have been reported so far." She continued, "Heavy rain is forecast again today," and urged, "The Ministry of the Interior and Safety, other related ministries, and local governments should once again check the facilities under their jurisdiction and on-site response systems, focusing on areas at high risk of damage."
