President Lee Jae-myung said on the 9th (local time) that "Korea and Mongolia agreed it is desirable to further expand cooperation for the stability and development of the Northeast Asia region."
President Lee made the remarks in a joint press announcement after concluding a summit with Mongolian President Ukhnaa Khurelsukh at the government building in Ulaanbaatar. President Lee said, "The two countries decided to further strengthen cooperation on the international stage," adding, "We shared the need to maintain and strengthen the tradition of cooperation and mutual support accumulated on the international stage, and agreed to closely cooperate on global issues such as climate change and sustainable development."
He continued, "We plan to expand cooperation in international organizations and multilateral forums, and to closely cooperate in elections for international organizations, including the International Court of Justice (ICJ)."
He also said, "Today I explained our government's Korean Peninsula peace and cooperation initiative to President Khurelsukh, and the President actively agreed on the importance of peace and stability on the Korean Peninsula and in Northeast Asia." He added, "I once again thank the President for expressing his intention to always support our government's efforts to establish peace on the Korean Peninsula."
