Han Chan-sik, the newly appointed presidential senior secretary for civil affairs, visited the launch preparation team for the Major Crime Investigation Agency (MCIA) on Monday to review preparations.
The Presidential Office said Han visited the preparation team and received an overall briefing on the agency's launch preparations before inspecting them. It was Han's first visit to the team since his appointment as civil affairs chief last month.
The MCIA launch preparation team is an organization established under the Ministry of the Interior and Safety, tasked with arranging working-level regulations such as laws and rules related to the agency.
The MCIA is set to launch on October 2, but some point out that it may not meet its target deadline, as the pace of organizational restructuring has been slow, with an amendment to the Criminal Procedure Act still pending in the National Assembly.
