South Korea's military canceled the test launch of the solid-fuel space rocket "Mir," which it had planned to conduct in waters near Jeju Island on Monday afternoon.
According to the Ministry of National Defense, the Agency for Defense Development (ADD) had been scheduled to carry out the fourth test launch of the solid-fuel rocket Mir in waters south of Jeju Island at around 2 p.m. that day.
However, some problems were found during the final launch preparations, and the decision to halt the launch was made out of safety considerations, according to officials. The postponement was not due to local weather conditions.
The ADD plans to attempt the launch again when weather conditions are favorable. However, with Jeju Island entering the rainy season starting tomorrow, a re-launch within a short period appears unlikely.
The Ministry of National Defense said, "The schedule for the re-launch will be announced at a later date."
