The National Assembly approved the motion to confirm Prime Minister nominee Han Sung-sook at a plenary session Tuesday.
The People Power Party did not participate in the vote, arguing that Han was an unqualified candidate. The confirmation motion was processed under the leadership of pro-government parties, including the Democratic Party, the Rebuilding Korea Party, and the Progressive Party, amid the People Power Party's absence. The motion passed with 166 votes in favor and one invalid vote out of 167 members present.
Han becomes the second prime minister under the Lee Jae-myung administration and the 50th prime minister.
